-Okay, first I must ask where you got the idea for the ~Pink Girl Undies~ product? I think it's so funny, I show up to a chat wearing those and so many people are like <_> Uhm... :D

LOL those undies...actually i wanted to make the "baby look" for my avatar so I wanted something that kids wear and found this mesh thought it might give more baby look to the whole baby outfit idea :D

-Where does most of the inspiration for your products come from?

Umm usually from the web or from other products i see in the catalog and rarely from my real life clothing :)

-How do you design/texture your products? (Tablet, mouse, etc.) Why?

Mouse. I kinda don't like my tablet hard to control, maybe I'm just used to the mouse not sure but i just love mouse xD

-In your opinion what is the best program to use for texturing? Why?

Photoshop, but other programs are probably great too never tried something else except for PS so I'm not sure ^^

-What is the best thing about being a creator?

When i feel bored i just go through the catalog and always find what to derive from so I'm not bored a lot ;)

-At any point did you feel like you should give up? If so how did your over come the feelings?

No, I never thought I should give up, sometimes I work on something and the end result is not what I was hoping for I just close everything wait until I feel like developing something else and that's it I never gave up and wont :D

-Are there any techniques you use in real life to help you develop on IMVU?

I never actually thought of that probably no lol

-Do you have any secrets about developing :O?

Umm I don't think so i just make the textures and submit no secrets xD

-Any advice for beginning creators?

Nothing stays the same. if your first shirt isn't like what you hoped it to be just keep trying, using diff techniques until u get something you are happy with, everything takes time, same thing in real life too of course when i see my first products I'm all shocked, my texturing skills improved a lot since then! <:
-Do you stick with any particular style(s)?

No, never sometimes I love dark and Gothic style sometimes I love all pink and girly, I'm always in the mood for something else :D

-Who are some of your favorite developers?

There's a lot......umm Nikka77 - love her heads a lot!, ClearWing, Annasassin, Lumina, CorpseDolly and a lot a lot more xD

-Do you feel it is a competition between you an other fellow developers?

I don't even have to think about the answer, NO. I don't compete i just love developing, I love using Photoshop its all for fun nothing else :)

-On a more serious note:
What do you think about the art stealing that has been happening in IMVU lately? How do you think IMVU and IMVU users could put a stop to this?

I just don't understand those people...there's a huge difference between making your own art and stealing others, when u steal you know its not yours and wont be, you didn't make it, I wouldn't want something that doesn't belong to me not here and not in real life :s but we cant stop anyone from stealing if they want to, people should know by their self what is wrong and what's right.

Do you think IMVU could have a better Creator Program? What would they need to change?

I cant think of any new changes I'm not good with ideas but i think they should I bet there's a lot of things they could think of.. :)

This interview was, for me, one of the best! During my major RP phase, I couldn't get enough of Ellohym's products. Even though I'm currently not roleplaying as my character Nlaea Elenaril , I still find my self constantly going through her products just to oogle (yesh you like my new word?) at the brilliance!

-Your products are amazing! What inspires all the detail?

*Blush* Thank you. Actually, I blame my need for detail partly on my obsessive compulsive disorder. :) I've often wondered why I drive myself utterly insane, fussing over seams and shading that most would probably not even notice...but in the end, I can't click that darn submit button until I've got all the bits into their proper places.

-How long have you been developing?

Well, I started out like many people do...with stickers, but I didn't put out my first piece of clothing until about 2009. (I think that's right...I'm horrible with dates. lol)

-Out of furniture, rooms, and clothing, which is your favorite to develop?

Oh, hands down...clothing! I know, I started completely backward...as clothing is one of the most difficult things to create, but it's also the thing which I had the most difficulty shopping for.

-Do you create your own meshes?

Sadly, no...not ~yet~ anyhow. I've toyed with the idea for quite some time, but time constraints have prevented me from taking the mesher's plunge. (And the outrageous price of the necessary software. Ouch!) Fortunately, I've found a couple very talented individuals who have created some mesh bits for me. Perhaps someday I'll find a great deal on a Max program and try my hand at it...though I'll also need to purchase days with more hours in them. :)

-What is your favorite product you've made? Why?

Oh man...you asked a tough question. I enjoy trying my hand at just about anything...sometimes just to see whether I can pull it off...but I don't think there's any one thing that I could label as my favorite. And I don't mean that like it sounds, I take a lot of enjoyment from the 'creation' process, usually more so than the end result...and it happens more time than not that my own favorites are not my best sellers...but quite the opposite. I must have horrible taste. lol

-What is your least favorite product you've made? Why?

Hmmmm.....well, I'm not that good at skins...so I tend to shy away from them unless I want something specific to go with an outfit collection. I'll leave the skins to those who rock at them.


-Do you enjoy creating male or female products more? Why is that?

FEMALE! The mesh options are sooooooo much better for female, though I try to keep a fair assortment of male items in my catalog, as I know how badly they're needed.

-Was your developing style always Role-play/Medieval? Why does this style (Role-play/Medieval) interest you so much?

Well, I started developing out of necessity. I've been a role player for many, many years, and found it so incredibly irritating to spend hour upon hour shopping for certain items which I needed to outfit my various rp characters...thus, I started creating things myself. I've always had my head stuck in the Medieval/Fantasy clouds, and developing in this genre has been so very, very satisfying for me. On occasion I'll deviate from my usual path, but it doesn't happen very often.

-Do you look up to any developers? What are some of your favorite?

Oh, I've many favorites! I don't often shop for clothing these days, as my inventory is bulging at the seams, but I'm positively addicted to skins, and enjoo in my eyes is a skin Goddess! For hair, PennyDreadfull keeps my avatar looking smexy (her Brimstone color is the best black you'll find!). Then there is the slew of meshers who contribute to my addiction to texturing...Whimsee for clothing, oMVo (MissVix's more Medieval side) and Darkideas for furniture/rooms/accessories.

-You seem a bit strict (in a good way :D) about "No Requests", why is that?

I used to take requests, I really did! My decision to not take them anymore stems from the fact that I became overwhelmed by them, and it got to the point that I was focusing so much on requests for other people, and I was so stressed out over getting requests finished in a timely manner...and getting them done to exact specifications...that all enjoyment was sucked out of my time in previewer. I'm the type of person who gets inspiration from just about anywhere, and I even find myself piecing together outfits while grocery shopping. I need to create to keep rein on my sanity. Making pieces from my own imagination is a form of therapy for me, and if I'm constantly doing requests, it leaves no time for my own designs. I can honestly say, that if I still did requests, I would be a very anxiety riddled and grumpy person, so my decision not to do them is in my family's best interest. *chuckle*

-How do you feel IMVU and all IMVU users can help stop all the art theft with the catalog pictures/products/etc. being stolen?

I recently went through this myself. An outfit which I had nearly crippled my mouse hand to create, with all it's seams and lacings, was snagged from what I can guess a poorly captured screen shot, cut apart and slapped into a clothing mesh by a thief trying to label themselves as a 'developer'. (My apologies, but this is something I feel very strongly about.) In the end, after filing my claim against this person, the offensive item was removed from their catalog, but as IMVU did not feel the need to stop this thief completely, they proceeded to do the same thing to a friend of mine also. Thus...I've come to the conclusion that it's up to us as artists and developers OURSELVES, to take extra steps to safeguard our work via html codes which prevent image swiping and watermarks on custom avatar art. Sad, I know...but not only is IMVU doing next to nothing about stopping existing art theft, they are now promoting it by introducing games where members are encouraged to swipe avatar images. *Woeful head shake here*


-Do you think IMVU could improve the Creator Program? How?

Honestly? The only tutorial I ever watched was a youtube video on clothing opacity maps. Though the Creator page has much information, for me it was frightening and intimidating to read...and actually postponed my developing.

-How do you come up with product names, do you have a method?

I try to keep my item names as straight forward and descriptive as possible. If I do a collection, I try to keep a key word for all related pieces. Simple as that.

-Do you have any advice for budding developers?

I would recommend to anyone wanting to start out on the developer's path, to seek out a few video tutorials on whatever subject pertains to them, then just leap into previewer with both feet like I did. You learn far more from your own experimentation and mistakes than anywhere else. Also, really get to know your software, and what it can do for you. I've learned most of what I know of Photoshop by fiddling around, but there are numerous places online where a person can find tips and tricks to make use of all it's nifty applications. And don't be afraid to just play around with whatever mesh appeals to you. Just because you tinker with something in previewer, does not mean you actually have to submit it, should the end result not be what you were going for. A fair portion of my products are completely opposite from my original vision. Things have a way of evolving during their creation. And when really stumped on something, check the forum. Chances are, someone else has had the exact same question...and it's already been answered by another who's been there themselves. We all have to start somewhere.

~Fudgestix~

Fudgestix obviously has great(!!!!) design ideas! I would really like to see what the hairs on her toes look like though >:D

-What is your most popular product? Why do you think it's so popular?

My most popular product would probably be my "Vampyre Doll Dress".It appeals to a large number of consumers and took quite a bit of effort to make ^^.

-Question from a fan- What inspires your designs?

Hmm what inspires me... pretty much everything I can see. Meaning anything from the trees outside my window to the hairs on my toes.

-What do you like most about a product? (Detail, design, meaning)

I love designs, especially original designs. I don't like it when things are done over and overrrr, you know what I mean. It gets too boring, I love people who think out of the box!

-What is your favorite thing to develop? Why?

Dresses.. dresses are my favourite thing to develop. One because my dresses are my most popular products. And Two because they're super fun to make x3.

-Have you ever made a product that resembles anything in real life?

I've been inspired by real life things, but have only made one real-life peice, which was my Haruhi Suzumiya Dress.

-If you could improve making any type of product, what would it be?

If I could improve making any type of product, it would be the avatars. Most of them are dis-proportioned and a little funky due to IMVUs skeleton.

-How do you feel when you see an avatar wearing your products?

This question is eaaasy! Of course I feel absolutely over-joyed when I see avatars with my products on ^^. It makes me feel proud.

-Many people have a developer they wish to some day be as great as them, do you have one? Who?

I am a big fan of many developers, but at the moment the creator who I would want to be as good as is Pharmacist, tons of lovely products, both 3d and 2d developer and well respected ^^. Also one of the reasons why I became a developer on IMVU.

-Do you feel that IMVU could improve on their Creator Program? How?

There's always room for improvement in the creator program, I think that the tutorials for IMVU could be a little more detailed. Also I'd like to change the tier system, it's a little too bugged.

-What is your favorite thing about developing and being a creator?

My favourite thing about developing= Being a developer and creating new things o.o.

-Is there a particular style or group of colours you stick to?

I tend to make monochrome or black/white things and red/blue/gold/green/purple things. I'm not sure why but my products come out prettier in these colours. My style kind of shifts from time to time, but for the most part it's mainly lolita/gothic/aristocratic/doll/modern/victorian.

Due to those dang time zones (yea I do hate you time zones :P) we had to do this interview through email. Though even though I haven't talked to her through chat I can already tell CreamPeach would be soo much fun to be around!

1.What inspired you to start developing?


I wanted to have my own style..and wear the things that I love like fruits, desserts. etc.

2.Are there any techniques you use in real life to help you develop on IMVU?

Cookbooks! I love looking at those yummy desserts and think of an outfit based on that!

3.What style do you normally classify your products in?

Kawaii!!! XD

4.How much improvement do you think you've made between now and when you first

started developing?

Little by little i get to learn more. I'm not an expert in photoshop but the more I make the more I learn! Baby steps!! XD

From October 2008 up to this day! <3

5.Is there a reason all your products are based on mostly fruits? (whenever I
look at them I get hungry! In a good way:D)

Yesh!!! I love fruits and there will be a lot more fruits coming!!

6.A fan of your products asks: Do you take requests?


A lot of my products are requests like the Cherry Love and Green Apple. I actually accept requests but not at the moment. I'm trying to finish other requests 0__0. Just message me and I will see if I can squeeze it in. ^__^

7.Do you have any advice for future developers?

A wacom tablet makes developing so much easier, to draw those little extra details!! Try to have your own style! Do not copy other developers and have fun!!! SShmile! XD

~CorpseDolly~

After the interview with the dark and mysterious CorpseDolly,I've learned two things, my top hats did not fit in with her room! And that her eyes apparently go like this <.>. :D!

What inspired you to start developing?

I just couldn't find what I wanted in the catalog. Like hair colours and very few nice corset outfits. So I started to make my own.

Is there a particular style you stick to when creating products?

It's mostly things I really wear and obviously like. Corsets, massive gowns and 50's inspired clothing.oh and dolls of course, I'm on a doll kick right now.I really should get started on those doll bundles...

Ever thought of deriving from Pharmacist's doll meshes? :)

I haven't really sat down yet and looked through all her derivables, I know she has a nice variety of dress meshes. I'll probably use her "The doll" dress mesh

Where do you get the ideas for some of your skins?

Mmm well I don't know, I think most of my skins have been pretty basic. Same eyeshadow shape, differently colours.I do collect make-up pictures so those stay in the back of my mind I guess.

What are some of your favorite developers?

Dollfie, Visnova, Lollirot, Ange and Rainb0w, even though I don't wear that many colours I just love her catalog.


What program do you think works best with creating textures?(Paint, Photoshop, Gimp, etc.)

I've tried gimp once when my computer crashed and my eyes went like this <.> I'm just used to photoshop, I think I've been using it since....2005

Do you thinking IMVU could improve on helping beginning developers?

I don't know, they already have far more resources than the older devs had, like the tutorial center. I think IMVU could improve on the visibility of said available information. And also have new developers know that there's a forum where you can ask for help and find even more tutorials.

What is your favorite thing to develop?

Clothes. But I'm always too lazy to start yet so happy when I see the final result.

What product of yours do you value the most?

Just one? I'm going with the dark dolly outfit right now. I love that dress. I'm such a sucker for cage skirts.


Did you ever think about making requests?

I take them once in a while. Skin requests mostly. Sometimes I take recolour requests of outfits, but not too many. I don't like making too many version or else I just feel like a one trick pony.
Oh and I do take pose requests currently too

1.What inspired you to start developing?




1.Well, I wasn't so new to texturing when I joined IMVU because I used to create custom content for the Sims 2. But since I was already bored of sims, I got really curious to try making things for IMVU. It's hard to say what actually inspired me, guess I just kept doing what I love?




2.About how long did it take you to create the Victoria Avatar?



2.Around 2 months, but due to some personal issues, I couldn't work on it non-stop. Still, it did take forever, but guess she was worth it:)



3.Are there any techniques you use in real life to help you develop on IMVU?




3.Guess so. Say whenever I get an interesting idea, I always sketch it down, so I don't forget about it. Sometimes I take photos of my clothes, jewelry etc and create textures out of those. And I always watch, observe and learn..




4.What program do you think works best with creating textures?(Paint, Photoshop, Gimp, etc.)




4.I've only used Photoshop, but wouldn't trade it for any other software. And of course, a Wacom tablet is a must as well.




5.What is your favorite thing to develop?




5.I don't think I have one.. I just like making everything that can be put on the avatar. I can't be making the same type of products all the time though, as I get bored quite fast.

I'd say I'm best with hair and poses, but what I decide to create next mostly depends on the mood.



6.Who are some of your favorite developers?




6.I think it's pretty obvious that I really adore Lumina's work:D

I also love products by baraq, tiramisuer, Nikka77, Liziaah and many more devs



7.Do you make your own meshes?




7.Yes, all my meshes are created by me. Sometimes I happen to use a stock model, like with this chair I made poses for, but 99.9% of the time the meshes are made by me from a scratch.




8.Do you have any advice for future developers?




8.Get into meshing asap. This way you will be able to create any design that you have in your mind without having to compromise your ideas and restricting yourself to the meshes that are in the catalog.

And as for the other stuff, it's hard to point out just one or two things, really..
Successful dev = original designs + top notch quality + well presented/marketed products
As long as you work hard on those three elements, you'll be fine.



9.How did you come up with the detailed poses of The Victoria Avatar?




9.I usually use real life photos as references. It's not as easy to find photos with great creative poses though, so most of the time I just take the photos myself. I enjoy photography and taking selfportraits, so this comes pretty naturally to me..

And of course, the revisions..I don't just sit down, create a pose and say it's done, I keep coming back to it trying to look for the flaws and things that can be improved and keep tweaking it until I'm happy.
