~ShiroLoliChan~

Hellows fellow readers! Sorry for not posting in a while! I've had some things come up! But I should be back for more interviews. So to get on with it, I recently sat down, or stood up actually (bad humor, I know), for a great interview! Here's ShiroLoliChan!
Me:Blue
ShiroLoliChan:Pink
WarbleBunny: Ok, 1.What inspired you to start deving?

ShiroLoliChan: I actually wasn't quite confident with what was in the catalog back in 2006. It took ages to find something I liked so I really wanted to try making my own stuff.

WarbleBunny: 2.About how long did it take you to start satisfying yourself with your work?

ShiroLoliChan: Surprisingly little time, because I tried out this and that in the previewer before uploading anything. I've been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil and therefore it was only a question of getting the abstract thinking of how to transport something flat to a 3D object so that it looks good.

WarbleBunny: 3.About how long did it take you to start making lots of sales?

ShiroLoliChan: I think it was almost a year. I guess one thing that helps a lot is having many products in your catalog because people tend to take a peek if they found ONE product they liked. And the more you have, the easier you can be found.

WarbleBunny: 4.Did you ever feel like you should just give up?

ShiroLoliChan: Not at all on developing itself, but there have been several projects that just didn't wanna work so I dumped them. Other than that there have been some changes made by imvu concerning the developer community that really had me freak out, but nothing bad enough to force me to stop. It's just too much fun ^_^

WarbleBunny: 5.Do you feel that it's a competition between you and other fellow devs?

ShiroLoliChan: Not at all! There are so many lovely ideas and personal styles out there, I wouldn't wanna miss them. As long as it doesn't come to stealing ideas it's just fine.

WarbleBunny: 6.How do you come up with product names, do you have a method?

ShiroLoliChan: Not really... I always try to pick something that matches the product. For example the Mary dresses are inspired by the brand Mary Magdalene, the Flora stuff has a floral print and so on. The only system I have is putting a "*" and space at the beginning of every name so the things are sorted in the inventory.

WarbleBunny: 7. Are there any secrets you could share about deving right now?

ShiroLoliChan: If I told you, I'd have to kill you... no, seriously, there's no big mystery about it. Of course everybody has their special tricks, but if we all used the same, all the stuff in the catalog would probably look the same. That would be a pity.

WarbleBunny: lol don't kill me xD

ShiroLoliChan: Haha, I won't. Don't be afraid ^_^;

WarbleBunny: 8.Do you have any advice for future devs?

ShiroLoliChan: Don't give up just because something didn't turn out exactly the way you wanted it. But be patient, don't upload anything you're not at all satisfied with. Believe me, your customers have a sixth sense for it and won't buy it XD And don't neglect advertising, create a banner, do something to pimp you're product pages. There are many groups and sites out there that can help you.

WarbleBunny: 9.What is your most prized piece of work?

ShiroLoliChan: That must be my Lacey Lolita Boots. I personally love to wear them and they're also selling well. And of course I'm always most into the things I just recently made. That might be because I really have to be on fire for an idea to actually make something out of it.

WarbleBunny: 10.Do you think IMVU could have a better developing program? If so, what could they improve on?

ShiroLoliChan: Just a short side question, by program do you mean the software or
what they call the developer program?

WarbleBunny: What they call the developer program

ShiroLoliChan: Ah, okay ^^ back to answering the question:

WarbleBunny: :)

ShiroLoliChan: They actually have improved a lot by providing some tutorials and putting up the developer center where you can find all you need. I just hope the next things they change won't make it harder for devs again. The last big hit were the developer tokens. So let's all hope there won't come anything worse ^_~

WarbleBunny: 11.What is your favorite thing to develop?

ShiroLoliChan: Clothing and accessories over all. I'm really not the furniture or room developer. I just made that one room with matching furniture because I didn't have and couldn't find anything I liked as a Lolita room. That has changed by the way thanks to all the wonderful fellow lolita devs around.

WarbleBunny: Lastley 12.Have you made anything you thought was horrible but the "IMVU Public" seemed to like?

ShiroLoliChan: Not with my ShiroLoliChan account, but that's just because I had much time practice on an alternate dev account. It was a lolita dress by the way. I really hate it today, but people keep buying it and I don't know why XD

~Prota~

Prota; Lolita Group Leader, developer, honest, sweet, and definitely does GREAT interveiws! Prota is the kind of person that you could have a long proffesional discussion about developing with! Enjoy the interview!
Me:Blue
Prota:Navy Blue
1.What inspired you to start deving?

1.Well I used to do something very similar on an online game. When I started using imvu a friend I had at the time urged me to try developing here.

2.About how long did it take you to start satisfying yourself with your work?

2.Well I'm never completely satisfied. I'm usually pretty happy with my latest items for a while though. I really think I've gotten better at texturing recently so I'm excited to get more items out. Finding the time however isn't so easy.

3.About how long did it take you to start making lots of sales?

3.It really depends on what you consider lots. I don't make that many. It took several months to sell enough to not have to worry about credits for submitting items though.

4.Did you ever feel like you should just give up?

4.Nope.It can be discouraging but never so much that I ever felt like quitting.

5.Do you feel that it's a competition between you and other fellow devs?

5.Competition? Not really. I do feel pressure to do better when I see what other devs are doing, I see this as a good thing though.

6.How do you come up with product names, do you have a method?

6. I'm pretty boring when it comes to product names. I prefer to keep them short and descriptive.

7. Are there any secrets you could share about deving right now?

7. No actual secrets but knowing a thing or two about art are always striving to improve your skills and invaluable I think.

8.Do you have any advice for future devs?

8.Same as my last answer

9.Who is your favorite dev?

9. I don't think I could ever decide! ShiroLoliChan, Pharmacist and MolotovCupcake are all pretty great and nice people.I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting as well.

10.What is your most prized piece of work?

10. Oh that's a tough one. Probably the fawn coats. They took a lot of work and I'm still pretty happy with how they turned out.

11.Do you think IMVU could have a better developing program? If so, what could they improve on?

11.It certainly could be better but I'm not exactly sure what I'd want them to do to improve it. Possibly make the previewer easier to work with but they seem to be working on that already.

12.What is your favorite thing to develop?

12.I like making accessories. Not any type in particular, just things that are small and quick to make. Instant gratification!

13.Have you made anything you thought was horrible but the "IMVU Public" seemed to like?

13.My striped socks sell pretty well but I don't think they're anything special.

~QueenofWonderland~

Hello fellow readers :)! In this interview I changed it up a little bit. Originally I asked QueenofWonderland if I could get an interview about developing. She insisted she wasn't much of a developer! I still was dying to interview her about something! Then I remembered, she is one of the Lolita group moderators! For all of you that don't know what a group moderator is, it's almost like a co-manager to the owner. They tend to the group if the owner can't. And they help the owner make decisions. They also have authority over what gets posted. So I decided to interview QueenofWonderland about what that's like. So I keep you waiting no longer!
Me:Blue
QueenofWonderland:Red
1.How do you get chosen to be mod in the lolita group?

1.Hmm... Well I was chosen a while back, when AppleDolls was really the only person moderating and she needed some help. I don't know why she picked me but I'm glad she did! As for picking new mods, we really just look for people who are very active, kind and always helpful. We just added ShiroLoliChan to the mod team so she's a good example to look at.

2.What sort of responsibility do you have as a moderator?

2.I watch the group to make sure there isn't any spam or inappropriate topics... Things posted without permission or breaking rules, that sort of thing. All of the moderators also collaborate on ideas to improve the group and keep things active and fun for everyone. We all also handle running the Lolita Outfit Contest and the LolitaInfo page.

3.What happens if there is a dispute between the moderators?

3.We're very lucky because all of the moderators are mature and level-headed. We really haven't had any disputes! It's a very fun group of girls to work with. :)

4.Do you have any advice for group members that would like to become moderators?

4.Well as I said, we just added ShiroLoliChan to the moderator team so we're actually not looking for anyone else right now. But the way you would get there is just to be active and have a good personality within the group. Answering questions and being helpful is likely to get you noticed.

~Pharmacist~

I had the best interveiw with, my long time lolita idol Pharmacist! It was such an excitement just so say two words to her, but even better I got a complete Q&A with her! Enjoy :D
Me:Blue
Pharmacist:Black
1.What inspired you to start deving?
1.I like drawing since I was child. And I have a lot of dolls in real. The combination makes a lolita developer.
2.About how long did it take you to start satisfying yourself with your work?
2.I started feeling good when I saw people were liking my work.
3.About how long did it take you to start making lots of sales?
3.I think sales usually get big by either being pro developer or having a big catalog, for me, it went well after making pro status.
4.Did you ever feel like you should just give up?
4.No, I never felt so. I think by time I got more experience in both 3ds modeling and 2d texturing and that is good.
5.Do you feel that it's a competition between you and other fellow devs?
5.No, I think it is a wonderful feeling to see both of us doing great and having fans, I think competition is required. But with limits. You still have to love and care about others.
6.How do you come up with product names, do you have a method?
6.Most of the names was suggested by my husband. He thinks this is a fun way to learn new words.
7. Are there any secrets you could share about deving right now?
7.Yes. I am telling everyone who is intersted in developing not to give up. I started with a very very small amount of experience and never ever imagined to be pro to tier 7..etc. If you have the passion, you have everything.
8.Do you have any advice for future devs?
8.Yes, IMVU is a very good place to learn about everyhing. And do not shy to ask big developers, they are always ready to help.
9.Who is your favorite dev?
9.I think there are many. Maybe maspc and lumina for skins, jojomarlin for hairstyles. My favorite of Lolita is Molotovecupcake, Prota and ShiroLoliChan. My favorite of furniture is xXxCassiopeyaxXx.
10.What is your most prized peice of work?
10.I feel I like RosyLolitaII, I will tell you why, I spent like a month for making this skirt in 3ds max. and it was my first ever 3d complete project, it has a dress, a viel, boots and 2 types of hand held dolls, so I think I made it very well anyway.

After the interview I told her how I attempted to texture one of her dress meshes, and how I completely failed! She told me that she could try to make a map, of course, I was COMPLETELY confused and embarrased that I didn't know what that was. She "dumbed it down" for me. Exactly what she said, "do not shy to ask big developers, they are always ready to help". Big time developers are real people! They have feelings too and are just like you and I! You never know, if you ask a pro developer a few questions, you could be at their level one day too. Remember to check out some of Pharmacist's amazing products!

~AliceHimeChan~

A long time IMVU friend, AliceHimeChan, makes the best furniture if you want a princess themed room! She has an insanely awesome eye for colour. Here is my one on one interveiw with her :) Me:Blue
Alice:Pink

1.What inspired you to start deving?
1.I was always interested to dev, so I just went for it after I studied it a little.
2.About how long did it take you to start satisfying yourself with your work?
2.I don't think I'm perfect yet and so I think I still have a lot of improvment to do until I can be truly satisfied. :)
3.About how long did it take you to start making lots of sales?
3.It didn't all that long. There are many lolita's in our IMVU community, but not so many certain kind styled lolita products in our catalog, so they get sold pretty well.
4.Did you ever feel like you should just give up?
4.No way! Why would I? I develop for my own joy, if I feel like I can't create anything new, I'll try again next time.
5.Do you feel that it's a competition between you and other fellow devs?
5.Not really. Not that I would sell better than others, I really don't think so, but I don't keep record on such things for we all do our own kind of products that are unique and that certain people are interested to buy.
6.How do you come up with product names, do you have a method?
6.I have named my products rather simply for I'm not that creative with naming.
7. Are there any secrets you could share about deving right now?
7.Umn, don't give up! If it feels like you can't create nothing but crap, try another time and don't give up just because it didn't work out the first, second, nor third time!
8.Do you have any advice for future devs?
8.Check the answer above n_n
9.Who is your favorite dev?
9.I have so many of them, but I must admit that Molotovcupcake is one of my absolute favorites!
10.What is your most prized peice of work?
10.My product named "SweetPinkBow Necklace" has the most sales at the moment n_n
In my opinion this would be the perfect interveiw for future devs to look at! The link to AliceHimeChan's catalog is right here ->http://www.imvu.com/shop/web_search.php?keywords=AliceHimeChan&submit_search.x=37&submit_search.y=12
Keep checking for future interveiws! :)

~Intro~

Ever since I joined IMVU, it's been an intrest of mine about how developers, or devs for short, had inspiration for their work, or how they practiced. I am a dev myself, and let me tell you, I stink at it! So I've created this blog to try to help future devs in becoming as sucessful as some I will interveiw. One peice of advice from me, never give up! It gets you nowhere!
Love,
WarbleBunny
